ChamaPlatform collects information you provide directly, including your name, phone number, email address, and M-PESA transaction details. We also collect WhatsApp messages sent to our business number for the purpose of managing your Chama group.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our Chama management service
  • To process M-PESA contributions and payments
  • To send contribution reminders and notifications via WhatsApp
  • To generate reports and analytics for your Chama group
  • To improve our services and develop new features

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Safaricom (M-PESA) for payment processing
  • Meta (WhatsApp) for message delivery
  • Your Chama group members (contribution status only)
  • Law enforcement when required by Kenyan law

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data, including encryption of sensitive information, secure database storage, and access controls. M-PESA PIN and password information is never stored by our platform.

5. Your Rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Object to data processing
  • Data portability

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days. Transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Kenyan financial regulations.
